Fu Hui Invited Aboriginal Children to experience Chinese Culture
On July 6th, 2016, Fu Hui invited friends from Hillside School, Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation to take a field trip in our local Chinese community. It was a wonderful learning opportunity for these aboriginal students.
Upon arriving in Toronto after an over 3 hours bus ride, the students had a delicious buffet lunch sponsored by Mandarin Restaurant Franchise Corporation. Then they enjoyed a tour of HSBC Bank Canada and learned about how the Bank serves the international needs. The Branch Manager hosted a multiple choice quiz game which had made the students learned in a easy, interesting and interactive way. Each student was also given a HSBC piggy bank to take home. Its a great way to encourage them to start saving while they are young.
Their last stop was Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. The students learned about Buddhism and saw a very special performance of the Chinese Lion and Dragon dance. The students enjoyed practicing Chinese calligraphy in writing their names in Chinese. The high light of the trip was having the opportunity to be part of the dragon dance and the chance to perform on the drums. It was truly an amazing way to learn Chinese Culture through hands on activities.
They brought home new experiences, made new friends, but most importantly made a connection with the greater Chinese community that will last the rest of their life.
