From October 15th to 21st, 2023, the Liangshan Education Foundation Fu Hui project team held Fu Hui Scholarship Award Ceremonies at various schools for the first term of the 2023-24 academic year. Participants included Fu Hui Education Foundation Chair Stanley Kwan, Presidents Judy San and Michael Tse, and other members from Canada, plus members of the project team Wang Yue and Li Jing, and Starlet volunteers Ge Guo Mo and Tuo Jue Mo Zi Za. This semester, 1092 students from 9 schools in Huili, Xichang, Meigu were selected to receive the Fu Hui scholarship. A total of 1.597 million yuan were awarded to the students.

The establishment of the Fu Hui Scholarship provided more opportunities and incentives for the Liangshan students, as well as valuable advice. They encouraged the students to be grateful, appreciative and reciprocate the kindness; and be confident that they can make miracles come true, and strive to be a socialist successors and implementers.

Chairman Kwan mentioned that he was happy and gratified to come to Liangshan again after four years. While congratulating the award-winning students, he also thanked the project schools for their support of the Fu Hui scholarship project over the years. He encouraged every student to persevere and maintain confidence when facing difficulties. He also hoped that everyone would cultivate and develop their character and discipline while pursuing academic excellence.
President Judy San spoke in English at the award ceremonies in Huili Minzu Middle School, Xichang Chuanxing Middle School, and Liangshan Minzu Middle School. Director Wu Bing translated in Chinese. The students listened carefully while also translating themselves. Judy hoped that every student would be a messenger of love, starting from little things around them; helping others, smiling to their classmates, and spreading warmth and care.
Director Tam spoke at Meigu Bapu Middle School and Meigu Minzu Middle School. She encouraged the students to continue to study hard, dare to make breakthroughs, challenge themselves, and progress together and keep improving with the Fu Hui family.
At the Liangshan Minzu Middle School award ceremony, director of Liangshan Education Foundation Du Liangshan praised Fu Hui’s eighteen-year of continuous support and contribution to education in Liangshan. Because of love, Fu Hui has been able to persevere for all these years as always. He hoped that the school and students can pass on this loving spirit.
At the award ceremonies, student representatives from each school spoke on behalf of the award-winning students. They expressed gratitude for the blessings and would turn this warmth and encouragement into motivation; continue to study hard, and live up to expectations. They would remember that "giving is more blessed than receiving" and would try their best to spread love and the spirit of charity.
It is worth mentioning about two sisters in senior high grade 2 of Xichang No. 2 Middle School: Da Xi A Ge and Da Xi A Ja. They have disabilities with their legs and cannot walk. They rely on their mother and classmates to help them in school. However their physical disability has not affected their academic development. Since the Fu Hui Scholarship was established in Xichang No. 2 Middle School, they continuously received the scholarship, proving themselves with excellent results. They had felt inferior and sad about their disability; but with the care and encouragement from Fu Hui, teachers and classmates, they became more optimistic, positive and expressed that they would continue to study hard to live up to everyone's expectations.
After the award ceremony, the Fu Hui visiting team held group discussions with the students. The students shared their studies and lives and talked about their dreams. The uncles and aunts from the visiting group patiently responded to their questions, gave encouragement and suggestions. These gatherings are the most precious memory for each other, and everyone look forward to meeting again in the future.
The Fu Hui Scholarship Award Ceremonies for the first term of the 2023-2024 academic year was successfully completed. Congratulations to the award-winning students for proving themselves with excellent results. We look forward to seeing the students striving ahead in their youthful splendor to meet the Fu Hui uncles and aunts again in the next award ceremonies, witnessing their honor together.
